Construction: This was simply one beautiful cigar. As you can see from the picture below the construction was nearly flawless.
Pre-light: The aroma from this super rich, oily looking wrapper was all mocha, the foot was tobacco, nuts and mocha and the fantastic wrapper was my favorite cigar flavor, scalded mocha. Cigars using Connecticut maduro have long been my favorites and this one didn’t let me down at all, especially when the flavor popped out while taking a sip of Diet Pepsi. The cold draw was close to perfection and had the same great flavor mix as the aroma found at the foot.
First third: Once the cigar was lit, smoke with a pleasant nutty mocha aroma that just billowed forth from both ends of this cigar. The first flavors that hit were a full bodied slap-you-in-the-face mix of oak, charcoal and earth. Within the first couple minutes the flavor profile changed to a nice medium bodied mixture like a creamy toasted mocha. This fantastic flavor mix lasted right until the mid point of the cigar before it began to shift.
Middle: Right at the mid point the flavor shifted as a bit of nice earthiness crept into the mix and the nice white ash that had held on so well decided to fall just before I sat it down in the ashtray.
End: As the burn progressed the earthiness flavor notes continued to build then with about two inches left a nice amount of oak jumped in and the strength increased bringing this cigar back to full bodied. I think by the end this was the strongest, good tasting cigar I have had the chance to smoke.
Overall: This cigar was delicious! The flavor profile was fantastic as was the construction and the flavor from the wrapper just couldn’t be any better. I do tend to favor medium body cigars, but even though this cigar finished as full bodied it is a winner and my highest rated stick to date. I love them and you just won’t go wrong putting a supply of Cromgnon’s in your humidor!
